A finely carved red glass overlay snuff bottle. Attributed to Beijing, mid Qing dynasty Of flattened circular form with gently rounded shoulders rising to straight neck, resting on a short oval footring, carved through the rich ruby-red overlay to the 'snowstorm' ground with a wondrous scene of a myriad or immortals, including an aged immortal with a peach seated on a giant bat, a monkey holding a peach aloft, and other immortals, the reverse with immortals on a boat above a raging torrent, stopper. 6.3cm (2½in) high. A red glass overlay snuff bottle. Attributed to Beijing, mid Qing dynasty Of flattened rounded form with a short neck, resting on a short splayed foot, finely carved through the red overlay on each side with a dragon-headed shield incised with scrolls, with a long writhing chilong dragon weaving in and out of the shield, stopper. 7.7cm (3in) high. Qianlong the deep U-shaped body rising from a short narrow foot to a flaring rim, finely and deeply carved around the exterior through the red lacquer layers to a black ground with eight lanca characters amidst leafy lotus strapwork panels and above a lotus-lappet band, the interior with a gilt-bronze liner. 13.5cm., 5 3/8 in.
