Yongzheng mark and period.  Photo Sotheby's the shallow flaring sides rising from a slightly tapered foot, covered overall with a rich red bubble-suffused glaze draining to white at the rims, the white-glazed base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark; 20.7 cm., 8 1/4 in. Seal Mark and Period of Qianlong.  Photo Sotheby's the rounded sides supported on a tall flared foot, elegantly rising to a slightly everted rim, the interior and exterior covered with a rich red glaze of a crushed-raspberry tone, draining to white at the rim, pooling to a deeper tone around the top of the foot, the interior of the foot glazed white and inscribed with a six-character horizontal reign mark in underglaze blue; 15.2 cm., 6 in. Yuan Red Lacquer in "The world of Kubilai Khan" @ Metropolitan Museum, New York

The Yuan dynasty was one of the most innovative periods in the decorative arts of China. The native arts of pottery and lacquer were transformed by the coming together of artistic traditions from the north and the south, while craftsmen brought into China from other areas of the greater Mongol Empire introduced new skills to weaving and metalwork.
